It has been a sad year for Derek Lovejoy’s old practice to lose two of its principal players Geoffrey Collens and now John Whalley, in a matter of months.  It is sad loss for the Landscape Institute also, as John Whalley was someone who never stopped being engaged with the Institute and who never forgot his role and responsibility as a past president.  John was many things but above all he was a people person who lived his life and work to the full, and based in Lancashire, he actively championed the development and growth of regional Britain throughout his professional life.

FOLAR has compiled a brief overview of John Whalley’s life and works, please click here for the obituary

If you have any memories of John, or details of his work and projects which you are willing to share, please do send them to info@folar.uk so that we can add to the record of this extraordinary man.
