Formed in 2014, to support and promote the work of The MERL, guardians of the LI archive …


What We DO

  • We are dedicated to raising awareness and use of the growing archive, we fund a small student bursary to encourage and support research, we hold an annual symposia,(click link) cpd events, exhibitions, oral histories, talks, visits, and fund raising.

  • We are supported by subscription, donations, volunteers’ time and driven by an irrepressible enthusiasm to promote great landscapes.

  • We help disseminate information and ideas held in the landscape archive to encourage more informed interpretation of the past and provide the foundations for future well designed landscapes

  • We would love you to join us, there are no special requirements or qualifications to become a friend. What unites our members is a fascination with their landscape heritage.
